More than 185 days of the Professor Santiago Guevara illegal arrest.
The 65 years old professor Santiago Guevara has been illegally kept out of freedom for more than 185 days by the Venezuelan National Government. A High Educational level Professor with more than 40 years of experience in constant scientific researching, dedicated only to teach, diffuse values and the integral formation of professional generations helping to improve the country.
He is still arrested in the military intelligence department “Direccion de Contra Inteligencia Militar” (DGCIM) located in Boleita Neighborhood Caracas city-Capital District, which is an abuse and total violation of the Human Rights affecting the personal liberty and freedom according to the Venezuelan Constitution for being kept in military installations and not in a civil reclusion center as demanded in law.
During the more than 6 months of illegally reclusion Guevara has lost 25kg of weight. He is usually fainting, suffering of pain in his knees and general physical discomfort, risking his life in a dangerous point due to his age and the lack of medical assistance which immediately required.
Guevara is suffering a chronic active Colitis, highly sever, reflecting the bad nutrition he’s receiving. Most disturbing of all, he is not getting any medical help or accurate treatment to control the pathology putting Guevara’s life in risk.
The illegal detention of the Professor Santiago Guevara breaks all the agreements based in Principles and Best Practices on the Protection of Persons Deprived of Liberty in the Americas (2008), The United Nations Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners (2015) and Body of Principles for the Protection of All Persons under Any Form of Detention or Imprisonment (1988).
